Welcome to Daylesford and Hepburn Springs—where mineral-rich waters meet soulful art, and every moment feels like a breath of fresh air. We have created a fun few days in this beautiful region of Victoria.
You’ve arrived Daylesford and head down to Hepburn Springs. First stop, The Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve, where you wander past heritage rotundas and taste the earth’s own tonic—mineral water bubbling from the ground. You follow the Argyle Walk, a gentle loop through Wombat Forest, where kookaburras laugh and the air smells like eucalyptus (one of the things we love about this walk).
Next, it’s time to surrender to stillness at the Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa. You sink into warm mineral pools, letting the decades of spa tradition wrap around you like a soft robe. The Pavilion Café nearby offers a light lunch—think roasted pumpkin salad and herbal tea, served with garden views and quiet grace. Please make sure you book your appointment as the Hepburn Bathhouse well ahead of time or you may miss out.
In the afternoon, you stroll to Hepburn Springs Brewing Co., where the red ale tastes like toasted caramel and the gin paddle is a botanical adventure. Locals chat on the deck, and you feel like you’ve stepped into a story you didn’t know you needed.
Dinner is at The Surly Goat—a name that belies its elegance. The candlelight flickers over plates of slow-cooked lamb and heirloom vegetables. You linger. You exhale. You’re not in a rush.
Morning breaks in Daylesford. Check out Koukla Café & Pizzeria which is one of Daylesford’s most recognisable dining spots, sitting right on the corner of Vincent Street under a vine‑covered veranda. Another option is Larder Café Daylesford — one of the town’s go‑to breakfast and brunch spots, right in the heart of Vincent Street with probably the best coffee on town. Or head to the iconic Cliffy’s Emporium where breakfast is served with a side of vintage charm—poached eggs, sourdough, and the scent of freshly ground coffee or if your already down in Hepburn Springs try these options, Lotte Café, The Virgin Kitchen and for something more casual check out the wonderful Hepburn General store.
Then, it’s time to explore the soul of the region at The Convent Gallery. Once a spiritual retreat, now a haven for over 100 artists, it’s a place where stained glass meets bold brushstrokes. You wander through rooms that whisper stories or have a spot of lunch at Bad Habits café.
Next, you visit the Daylesford Museum, where old photographs and antique tools speak of resilience and reinvention. It’s quiet, grounding, and surprisingly moving.
Midday calls for nature. You walk the Jubilee Lake Track, a peaceful loop where ducks glide and the reflections shimmer. It’s the kind of walk that clears your mind and opens your heart.
In the afternoon, you dive into creativity at Stony Creek Gallery, where sculpture and canvas meet bushland. Then on to Black Gallery for modern edge, and Clayfire Gallery for earthy ceramics that feel like they belong in your hands.
If you’re feeling nostalgic, the Spa Country Railway offers a scenic ride through rolling hills and golden paddocks. It’s slow travel at its finest.
Dinner is at Bistro Terroir—French-inspired, locally sourced, and utterly divine. You toast to the day with a glass of Pinot and a plate of duck confit. If you’re looking to impress or have a special occasion we highly recommend the Lake House Daylesford or Sault two very special upscale venues that draw visitors from across Australia.
