Autumn is approaching and we are all looking forward to some respite from what has been a really hot summer. Of all the seasons, Autumn is my favourite and Daylesford is simply beautiful at this time of year. To walk around Lake Daylesford and look up at the town, in all its glorious colour, is really something special.
Autumn in Daylesford Hepburn Springs is not just about the stunning displays of red, orange and golden foliage, much colour and excitement is also being generated by our festivals that kick off at this time of year. ChillOut is first off the block on the Labour Day weekend in March. Australia’s longest running Country Pride event is rollicking good fun with over 50 events. This is Daylesford biggest weekend of the year. Key events include the Sunday morning parade down the main street, followed by a carnival at Victoria Park with live music and entertainment.
Our neighbour Kyneton has its own unique Lost Trades Fair. This relatively new event also takes place over the Labour Day weekend and celebrates craftspeople and artisans who master traditional skills. Think blacksmiths, cane weavers, chair and whip makers. Why not combine both festivals for a truly wonderful weekend in regional Victoria’s most dynamic region?
If you have been thinking about your next trip to Daylesford Hepburn Springs, autumn with its warm days, cooler nights, autumn colour and festivals galore, really is a magical time of year to visit.
