It’s summertime in the Central Highlands, with warm days and cooler nights making it the place to be.

Begin your day with a sunrise walk around Lake Daylesford, giving new meaning to the expression ‘up with the birds’, followed by a delicious, and well earned, courtyard breakfast at Blue Bean Love.

As the mercury rises, find the perfect shade tree at Lake Daylesford, spread your picnic blanket and while away the hours. A refreshing plunge at Turpin Falls, Kyneton, is also a favourite pastime.

Fancy doing something a little more energetic? Work up a ‘glow’ hiking, or mountain biking the goldfields track (maybe not all 210km of it!).

If premium gin is your thing, visit Animus Distillery and Terra Australis Distillery.

However you chose to spend your day, sunset drinks on the balcony at the Daylesford Hotel are the perfect finish. Be sure to check out our Festivals & Events schedule when planning your visit. A highlight is the Daylesford New Year’s Eve Gala; a fun community event featuring a street parade of colourful, creative floats and a fair which culminates in midnight fireworks over the lake. Bookend this with the Glenlyon Sports Day, held on New Year’s Day in a picturesque setting shaded by magnificent oak trees. Since 1857, this country sports day has offered events ranging from wood chopping to gumboot throwing.
